About the sounds
The Studio plays the real strokes of the Bengali dhak: the open ‘dyang’, the three-stroke cane roll ‘kurakur’ and the damped ‘tak’, with the bronze kasor and the shankh blown three times, all in an open-air pandal sound. Rhythms follow their spoken bols, the arati speeds up as it goes, and every beat is slightly humanised like a real dhaki’s.
