Privacy Policy
Effective 13 October 2026 · dhakerbol.com
Dhaker Bol is built so that most of what you do stays on your own phone. This policy explains, in plain words, what little we do collect, why, how long we keep it, and how to ask us to delete it.
Who we are
Dhaker Bol (dhakerbol.com) is published by [YOUR NAME / BUSINESS NAME], [ADDRESS], Kolkata, West Bengal, India. For anything about your data, write to admin@dhakerbol.com.
The short version
- You never need an account, and we never ask for your email or phone number.
- Your photos, cards, dhak videos, pandal plans, lists and Bijoya contacts stay on your device.
- Only three things reach our server: People's Choice entries and votes, Pujo Hisab groups, and sponsor banner view and click totals.
- We don't sell or rent any data, and we don't use ad networks or third-party tracking.
What stays on your device
These are saved only in your browser's storage on the phone or computer you use, and we can't see them:
- Pujo Toolkit data: pandal plans and the pandals you tick, lists and budgets, Bijoya contacts (including any phone numbers you type or pick from your contacts), your chosen panjika and display settings.
- Photos and creations: the cards, DP frames, plan images, My Pujo cards and dhak videos you make are created inside your browser. Your photos are never uploaded.
- Preferences: your language choice and a note of whether this device has Premium.
- Offline copy: a service worker saves copies of our pages and scripts so the Toolkit works without network. It doesn't contain your personal data.
Clearing your browser's site data for dhakerbol.com deletes all of this. You can download your own backup from the Pujo Toolkit page.
What we store on our server
People's Choice 2026
- Puja entries: the puja name, area and district you add, which are public on the leaderboard.
- Votes: to allow one vote per puja per day and stop vote-stuffing, we set a first-party cookie (
dbv) holding a random ID, and store a salted one-way hash of that ID and of your network (IP) address with each vote. We never store your raw IP address, and the hash can't be turned back into it.
Pujo Hisab
- So that friends can share a group, the group name, member names, expenses and any UPI IDs you enter are stored on our server.
- Anyone with a group's link can see and change that group. Share the link only with the people in it, and don't enter anything you wouldn't share with them.
- A salted hash of the creator's network address is kept to limit how many groups can be created per day.
Sponsor banners
- We place sponsor banners ourselves. For each banner we count how many times it was shown and clicked, as daily totals only, with nothing linked to you. These totals go into the reports we give advertisers.
- Clicking a banner takes you to the advertiser's website, whose own privacy policy then applies.
Server logs
Like every website, our hosting provider keeps standard access logs (IP address, browser type, page requested, time) for security and troubleshooting. We use them only to keep the site running safely.
Google services
- Premium subscriptions use Google Reader Revenue Manager. When you subscribe or sign in, Google handles your Google account and payment, and tells our pages only whether you have Premium. We never receive your card, UPI or bank details. Google's Privacy Policy applies to that service.
- Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when a page loads.
- Links you choose to open in Google Maps, Google Calendar, WhatsApp or your UPI app take you to those services under their own policies. We only fill in the text, such as a pandal name or a greeting.
Cookies and similar storage
dbv: a random ID for fair People's Choice voting, kept for up to 400 days.- An admin login session cookie, used only on our admin page by the site owner.
- Browser local storage and offline cache for your Toolkit data, language and Premium status, as described above.
- Google may set its own cookies when you use subscription features.
We don't use advertising cookies, analytics trackers or social-media pixels.
How long we keep data
- Individual vote records are deleted 30 days after People's Choice voting closes (24 October 2026). Each puja's name, area and vote total stay as the published result.
- Pujo Hisab groups are deleted automatically 6 months after their last change, or sooner if you ask.
- Sponsor totals (which contain no personal data) are kept for our records.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show, correct or delete data we hold about you, such as a Pujo Hisab group or a People's Choice entry you added. Email admin@dhakerbol.com with the page link. We'll reply within 7 days and act within 30 days. Because we don't collect names or contact details for voting, we can't single out an individual's votes, but they're deleted on the schedule above. We aim to handle personal data in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. If you're unhappy with our response, you can escalate a complaint to the Data Protection Board of India.
Children
Dhaker Bol is a family festival site. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children. Pujo Hisab and adding pujas to People's Choice should be done by adults, or with a parent's permission.
Security
The site runs only over HTTPS. Network addresses are stored only as salted hashes, the admin area is password-protected, and Pujo Hisab links use long random codes. No system is perfectly secure, so please don't put sensitive information in Pujo Hisab.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If we ever add something new, such as visitor analytics, we'll say so here first.
